Great news Sno-Seekers! The snowmobile bridge behind Sandy Cross's house has been completely demo'd and rebuilt thanks to the team of Paul, Christina, Craig, Scott, and a huge shout out to Hillside lumber for donating all of the materials!
Sorry for the delay, but with all of the coronavirus social distancing guidelines we had trouble collecting all of the tickets. We drew the names for the raffle this morning and the winners are... Grand prize - Kevin Dubreil Second prize - Sue Ellen Rogers Third prize - Jon Ross Fourth prize - Janice Daviault Fifth prize - Joe Mihalak Congratulations to all!!! We will be having our March meeting on Tuesday the 24th at 6pm. It will be held at Standish town hall and will be a pot luck supper. At the meeting we will be collecting all raffle tickets and drawing the winners of our second annual raffle fund raiser. If you will not be able to make the meeting and you have sold tickets you can mail them to the PO box or arrange to get them to myself or someone going to the meeting. If you need more tickets I have plenty and there are also some at the clubhouse. I hope to see as many of you there as possible. To all groomer operators I will have the groomer sheets as well as trail maintenance sheets printed out for you to sign.
The Standish snowmobile trails are closed after yesterday's warm weather. Another storm is expected on Thursday. If we get enough snow we will reopen the trials. Check back here or check social media for updates.
UPDATE: The meeting has been POSTPONED. e don't have a lot of snow, but what we do have our grooming team has been out and made the trails look awesome! The cover is still thin in spots so be on the look out for stumps and rocks. The trails are certainly rideable. The temperatures have been swinging wildly, so while the bays on Sebago are frozen, the lake is not safe. Cold temps over the next few days will help to improve the situation.
Also, we are having our February meeting this Tuesday the 18th. Please come out and find out all of the new things happening with the club. Bring your raffle ticket sales and pick up more tickets. This an important fundraiser for the club to help cover our expenses and finish the grooming barn/clubhouse. (Pic below is R1 2/14/20) Due to the lack of snow and warm temperatures/rain over the last few days, the trails in Standish are temporarily closed. We will reopen them as soon as we get more snow. Please respect the many landowners that graciously allow us to use their land for these snowmobile trails. Your cooperation will help us to keep these trails available in the future. We will post more information about trail conditions on this website, and other social media outlets. Thank-you and pray for snow!!!
Thanks to everyone who showed up at our new groomer barn/clubhouse on Saturday for the cookout! It turned out to be a very successful event with several new members signing up, raffle tickets & trail maps sold and generous donations to the barn and trail funds. Thanks also to the many club members who groomed the trails and volunteered their time to prepare for the day. Trails have been groomed and are in as good of a condition as they can be for the snow conditions. They are certainly rideable, but be careful as there are thin spots, some rocks and stumps. There will also be some icy conditions as things freeze up overnight. Don't forget our cookout at the groomer barn tomorrow (1/25). This looks to be the best of riding for the weekend as rain is predicted for later Saturday evening. Store by and have a burger or hot dog!
After the snow this weekend the groomers were out flattening out the trails yesterday afternoon. With the cold temperatures overnight they set up pretty well. The trails are in relatively good shape, but watch out for the occasional rock or stump in the trail. Some areas may also be icy due to these single digit and below zero temperatures. More snow is in the forecast for the weekend. There is some ice on the bays in Sebago, but that just happened over the weekend. The lake is not safe! We plan to be out grooming again on Friday before our cookout at the groomer barn on Saturday. Think snow and ride safe!
