The trails should be in great condition for the weekend! We got and inch or two of fresh snow last night and the temperatures are to remain cold for the foreseeable future. Looks like the possibility of a little more snow on Saturday and Monday as well. Trails remain icy on the corners due to a very solid base and rain last Sunday, so ride safe!

Took a 50 mile loop around Standish on Sunday before riding home in the rain. We got a few inches of snow before the rain started around noon. The trails were in good shape, and should not have been affected much later in the day. We will get them cleaned up again before next weekend. Here are a few pictures from around town. Can you guess where they were taken?
We had some warm weather and sunshine today but the groomers are out working hard tonight to smooth out the trails so that they set up nice for riding tomorrow. Temperatures are getting down to 15 degrees overnight, so we should have some excellent riding this Saturday! The forecast for Sunday keeps changing, right now it looks like a snow event changing over to rain. Pray for snow and ride safe everyone! Results of the Friday night grooming party. More grooming going on around Standish this morning. Have fun!
The monthly club meeting is tonight at Standish Town Hall at 6pm. There will be coffee and doughnuts served and raffle tickets will be available. Please attend the meeting and pick up tickets to sell, so that we can boost up the groomer fund!
Trails around town have been groomed and are in great shape. The is another storm predicted for Thursday and the forecast for the next week with more snow on the way! Be careful as there are still some icy spots under the groomed snow, especially on the turns. Ride safe! Mother nature helped us out with about 8" of fresh snow overnight! The trails are open again, so get out and ride! Be careful as the new snow is on a solid base of ice, conditions may be slippery, especially on the corners. If sleds can get out and pack down the new snow, the club will be out grooming, soon. Have fun!
UPDATE! After more rain last night the trails in Standish have been closed. Please stay off the trails until further notice. We do not want to lose access to the trails, so please respect the landowner's who allow us to use them and keep off until we get more snow... hopefully soon! Thank-you!
Mother Nature has not been behaving this week! We have had several days of warmer weather and rain. Last night we got about 1/2" of snow instead of the 3-5 inches predicted. Needless to say this is not helping our trail conditions. The good news is we have a solid base, so we just need a few good inches of snow to help with the grooming. Our crews are out doing what they can, but expect to see ice, water and a few small bare spots in the woods and sunny hillsides. Temps turn colder over the weekend. Most trails are rideable, but be careful!
Check out our awesome new Jeep groomer! This rig was purchased at auction and set up by our club mechanic. This is the perfect machine for our Standish trails equipped with studded tracks, winch and plenty of LED lighting. Let's all pray for snow this week so that we can get it out and create some flat trails!
Our groomers (Carl and Andy) were out and groomed from Dow Road to the Otter Ponds and up to the Two Black Dogs Pub in the center of town last night. Get out and ride!
See you at Pit Stop Fuels tomorrow (Saturday) 10am - 2pm! Raffle tickets, trail maps, club membership applications and great riding advise! :-) |
