Hi folks, it's that time of year where we offer five bucks off of our snowmobile club member ship rates. The sale runs from now until October 30th. You can go to our website Store to purchase them online, download the application on the About page or see any club member for an application, and mail your check with the application to the address listed on the contact page. Please encourage your snowmobile friends, family and neighbors to join the club as well! Trail and equipment improvements are all contingent upon this funding along with matching support from the State of Maine. Check the website and be sure to follow us on social media for updates on club meetings, events and trail conditions. www.standishsnoseekers.com For those of you who haven't thought about snowmobiling since April, but appreciate the fact that we have a local trail system that will take you anywhere in the State of Maine and also to New Hampshire, Vermont and even Canada, you need to check out the awesome work done by several of our club members over the summer! As you saw from earlier posts, we are using an old garage to house our groomers and trail maintenance equipment, graciously donated by Gorham Sand & Gravel. We spent last year stripping it down to the frame, re-siding, new soffits and re-roofing it along with adding power, lighting, heater compressor and a new overhead door. Well, this summer the crew has almost completed the inside with insulation, drywall and paint. What amazing progress! We have to thank the many volunteers for their hard work, the local businesses (listed on website) who donated most of the materials and again Gorham Sand & Gravel for use of the building and property. Without all of them together (along with our local landowners), it would be difficult to have the awesome club that we have today to build and maintain the 90 miles of trails. No matter what you use the trails for, please consider a donation to the trail and/or maintenance funds at our website store. www.standishsnoseekers.com
In April we lost one of own, Clay Stevens. He will be deeply missed by all our members and everyone who knew him. He enjoyed being outdoors, spending many days in Jackman at camp, out on Sebago Lake on his pontoon boat, or relaxing by his camper in various campgrounds throughout Maine. He loved hunting and fishing trips up north and tropical vacations down south. You could find him anywhere from running rabbits with his beagles at the Beagle Club in Buxton, riding his snowmobile all over the state, or camped out at the racetrack watching NASCAR or local races. He was a committed member of the Standish Sno-Seeker's Snowmobile Club, spending many hours grooming and cleaning up the trails. Clay loved his toys, including his Harley that he took on many rides in the summer. He was also the 'Clark Griswold' of Standish, known for his Christmas light display each year and his love and generosity during the Christmas season. Clay was a family man who enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his wife and family. In honor of Clay, we will be dedicating the train trestle bridge in his name, as racing on the lake by the bridge was one of his favorite things to do. He will be missed.
If you would like to make a donation to the club in Clay's name, please visit the online store and purchase any quantity of trail fund donations and type 'In Memory of Clay Stevens' in the comments sections. Thank you! With high temperatures over the last few days and lack of snow, we have officially closed the trails. Please respect the landowners that allow us to cross their property by not riding the trails. There are already many areas that are muddy and very wet from the melting snow. A shout out to our trail grooming team that did a great job with what little snow we had to work with, nice work guys!
Hey, we have not had great weather, but our trail grooming team has been out working the trails and there should be some decent riding around town this weekend. Be careful as some of the gravel pit operations have started working and there may be a few thin spots, but overall conditions are good. I am not sure what to expect from the storm on Saturday so get out and ride early!
Great club ride today with several of our Standish Sno-Seeker's club members around the Standish trail system. Join the club at www. standishsnoseekers.com
The Standish snowmobile trail system has been groomed and is offering some great riding! Our trail team has been out several times over the last few nights flattening out the trails and packing them down. The really cold weather is helping to lock them up overnight so we now have a really good base. As always, be careful as there may still be a few thin spots out there. Here is a picture of one of our newest club members out enjoying his first ride after moving to Maine and the first on his new 2016 Yamaha SR Viper. A couple of other club members took him for a 28 mile loop around Standish to introduce him to our trail system last night. Welcome to the club!
Also, we have added a link on our contact form to upload files. Please send us your favorite pics of your rides around town and/or pictures of trails where maintenance may be required. Include a note in the comments section and we might post them under this news page! |
